GIANTS WALKABOUT

Our Cultural Connection program for Indigenous & Non-Indigenous year 1 students to celebrate cultural activities and history.

The GIANTS Walkabout is a program that promotes Indigenous culture to primary school students to support cross curriculum Indigenous teaching themes. Indigenous High school students from the Catholic Schools Diocese Parramatta based in Mt Druitt are given the opportunity to act as educational facilitators and leaders to teach students about Indigenous history, dance, art, craft, weaving and games.

The program supports the GIANTS Reconciliation action plan and harmony within the community while also prompting the notion that Indigenous culture is a foundation for Australian identity. The program provides youth mentorship, cultural awareness, self-esteem and leadership.’ Dr John Hunter, Aboriginal Leader.
